LALO Undercover Tales of Money, Drugs, and Lies When you dance with the devil, sometimes all you can do is hang on. My LALO book is based on the true stories of my 15 plus years of undercover work. LALO was a notorious American drug trafficker, transporter, and money launderer who plied his trade in Miami, El Paso, Tucson and other areas along the Southwest border between Mexico and the United States. LALO managed several warehouses in Miami, Florida. He expanded his business to manage a transportation business out of El Paso, Texas and later a trucking company out of Tucson, Arizona. The quantities of drugs he reportedly moved made him highly sought-after by the cartels. He was also a top target of American law enforcement, referenced in Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) databases as an up-and-coming player in the cartel drug world. In reality, LALO was a law-abiding citizen, husband and father, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and a decorated FBI agent. Very few people—even most “Feds”—knew that LALO and I were, in fact, the same person.
